SEE IT: ‘My job? I was a sniper,’ Brooklyn man accused of joining ISIS tells FIBI agent

A Brooklyn man who abandoned his family to join ISIS matter-of-factly admitted to an FBI agent that his “job” was being a sniper, video revealed at his federal trial in Brooklyn shows.

After his arrest in 2019, Ruslan Asainov made the admission while sitting on a bed in his cell when an FBI agent asked him his occupation.

“My job? I was a sniper,” Asainov said with a nervous chuckle. When the FBI agent asked, “What’s that?” he repeated, “A sniper.”

Asainov, 46, allegedly left Brooklyn in 2013 to join ISIS, traveling to Turkey to make his way to Syria to fight Bashar al-Assad’s regime.

He became a “warrior, sniper and sniper trainer” for the terrorist group and was such a crack shot that he led sniper classes at an ISIS training camp, prosecutors said.

In another video from his cell, Asainov points to the spots on his right shoulder and right thigh where he was wounded by gunfire and to his left elbow where shrapnel from a grenade wounded him.

Asainov, a naturalized U.S. citizen, was born in Kazakhstan and lived in Brooklyn between 1998 and 2013. He married in the U.S., had a child and converted to Islam in 2009, prosecutors said.

After leaving for Syria, he sent a series of messages to his ex-wife, angry that his daughter was dressed in a Halloween costume, she testified Monday. “We are dying here to get rid of these holidays and my daughter is participating in them,” he told her, according to her testimony.

Prosecutors said Asainov trianed dozens of other ISIS members and tried to get money and equipment like night vision scopes.

Even though he was still married in Brooklyn he took another wife in the Syrian city of Taqba and had children with her, according to the feds.

His lawyer said he only went to Syria so he could live like a devout Muslim “under Sharia law.”

Asainov is on trial in Brooklyn Federal Court for conspiring to provide material support for terrorists. He could face life in prison if convicted.
